It's not very difficult to build a spi flash interface using old school parallel port. should theoretically be possible to dump the spi chip, modify the contents and then reflash. But I would prefer to do this by updating the firmware on the existing board, rather than ripping out the guts and replacing it with something based on an RPi. It would then be the perfect portrait-mode bartop for me. I'd love to replace those two with their better versions (Pac-Man and Dig-Dug), and also add Donkey Kong and Frogger. Pac-Man and Galaga, of course), are awesome, while the other two (Pac-Man Plus and Dig-Dug 2) are pretty much a waste.
